7-Month Training · Dunsmuir, CA
The skills of tending to big thresholds like grief and death are ancient and ancestral, with the wisdom held deep in our bones.
No one owns these skills. They exist beyond the realm of "experts." They ask us to respond to the truth of the moment as we build new structures of support through relationship, while tending to our inner worlds.
At its heart, this training is here to help you remember these skills and be a keeper of their wisdom in your families and communities.
Over a 7-month journey, we will move at the pace of our hearts to integrate course material into loving action. This work is meant to be slow, so the wisdom can root deep.
This training is intentionally focused on our local community and how we can begin to show up and create what is needed here, by working together. All Siskiyou County folks are invited.
Through group discussion, somatic practices, case studies, and role-play, we’ll learn by doing. In person and in real time, staying responsive to what emerges.
In death work, rigid plans rarely hold.

Between Sessions
Assigned readings/videos and a short reflection practice to prepare you for the in-person day.

Immersive practice, guided skills-building, story-sharing, and group work to integrate the material.
After In-Person
A final homework piece to help you apply the month's learning and carry it into real life.
The teaching framework combines group discussion, somatic practices, case studies, reading, reflection, and role-play. Between sessions, you'll have a shared space to connect with your cohort for digestion and support.
From Lisa Marie
This offering is shaped by what my work as a death doula continues to show me: we are hungry for more honest, skillful, and community-held ways of being with death, grief, and care. I want this to be a place where we can learn together, build real skills, and strengthen the webs of support that hold us through the most human moments of life.
For me, success from this looks like seeding a small group of people who can change the fabric of our community through direct service, creative skill building and sharing, and the embodiment of death awareness in everyday life.
My absolute dream is for this to lead into a vibrant community web of support for those embarking on this path, and for the people and families who will one day need that care.
I hope to have you along for the ride!
Xoxo Lisa Marie
